The Denver Broncos reeled off big run after big run against the soft underbelly of the Kansas City Chiefs defense.Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman ran roughshod over the Chiefs. Each scored a touchdown and Freeman eluded seven defenders and dragged a linebacker into the end zone on his 14-yard score."We ran the ball well https://www.thesaint...ew-brees-jersey ," Broncos quarterback Case Keenum said. "We started off so many series just pounding the rock at second-and-1, first-and-10. Even with some loaded boxes that K.C. brought, our offensive line played really well."We've got to keep running the ball well. If we keep running the ball like we do, we're going to win a lot of games."Nobody could stop Lindsay and Freeman Monday night 鈥?except Broncos offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave, who abandoned his great ground game at key moments in the Broncos' 27-23 loss .That included a three-and-out series in which the Broncos lined up in three-receiver sets three times in between the Chiefs' final two drives, both of which ended in touchdowns as Patrick Mahomes rallied the Chiefs (4-0) back from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit.Lindsay ran for 69 yards on a dozen carries for a 5.8-yard average and Freeman ran for 67 yards on just eight hand-offs, a whopping 8.4-yard average.Lindsay's long run was 19 yards and both Freeman and speedy wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders reeled off 18-yard runs."They ran downhill, but you score points by throwing the football," Broncos coach Vance Joseph said. "We ran the ball to control the game, but you throw the ball to score."Clinging to a 23-20 lead, the Broncos didn't burn enough clock to keep Mahomes on the sideline and give Denver's exhausted defense enough of a breather. After a run for no gain, a catch for no gain and a sack Womens Marshon Lattimore Jersey , Marquette King shanked a 35-yard punt that gave the Chiefs the ball at midfield for their game-winning drive. The Chiefs ran well themselves, with Kareem Hunt leading the way with 121 yards on 19 carries."It was a big game," Hunt said. "We've been up big on everyone we've played so far. It's good to see where we're at mentally and be able to fight back and come back in the fourth quarter down 10 points. That shows a team that's not going to give up."Other takeaways from the Chiefs' sixth straight victory over the Broncos:MAGIC MAHOMESPatrick Mahomes threw for 304 yards and a touchdown, a 2-yarder to tight end Travis Kelce that sparked the fourth-quarter comeback. That gave him 14 TDs and zero interceptions through the first month of the season. But the play everyone was talking was his 6-yard strike to Tyreek Hill with his left hand while getting pulled down by Von Miller ."I didn't think about it at all," Mahomes said. "I was just kind of scrambling left, I felt Von on my back and I knew I couldn't throw it with my right hand. I knew we needed the first down, so I kind of shot-putted it to Tyreek. ... You just have to get the ball in their hand somehow.""It caught me off-guard," Hill said. "I've never seen a quarterback who is right-handed throw the ball left-handed."Said Hunt: "I thought, is this dude a magician or something? He is doing things that you don't see often."Or ever, suggested Chiefs safety Eric Murray."That one is new," Murray said. "I'm glad we all got to see it."Miller didn't see it.He was wrapped around Mahomes' ankles trying to bring down the second-year star."I didn't know he threw it with his left hand," Miller conceded.Neither did linebacker Shane Ray."I didn't see the hand switch Alvin Kamara Jersey White ," Ray said. "I heard about it."Along with everyone else.KEENUM CONUNDRUMThrough one month, Case Keenum isn't the same quarterback who led the Minnesota Vikings to the NFC championship in January after injuries to Sam Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater. So far, Keenum has just three touchdown passes to go with six interceptions with the Broncos after throwing for 22 TDs and just seven interceptions."We believe in Case and he's shown he can win games late for us," Joseph said.Keenum nearly pulled off his third fourth-quarter comeback for the Broncos but he overthrew a wide-open Demaryius Thomas streaking down the Chiefs sideline with 16 seconds left from the K.C. 28."It was close," Keenum said. "I want to watch it on film. But it felt really close. There's a few, especially those types of plays that I lose a little sleep over, thinking about it, laying at night in bed. It's a tough one, it stings."KING'S STINGThe Broncos brought in a practice squad punter to push King last week but he continued his disappointing first season in Denver by averaging just 41 yards on three punts with a paltry net of 28.7.His 35-yard duck gave the Chiefs the ball at their 40 with 4 1/2 minutes left."He's got to perform better," Joseph said. "We're at home and it's his job to flip the field. It ain't happening." The offense and Drew Brees had a historical night and stole the show, but the defense looked to finally be on the same page and had a complete game. While it wasn’t perfect, and the Redskins’ offense made their fair share of mistakes Womens Tre'Quan Smith Jersey , a lot of the problems from earlier in the season seem to be going away. Let’s take a look at two plays that show the progress of the defense. The DefenseOn the first offensive drive for the Redskins, they face a 3rd and 10. The Saints come out in nickel formation with a cover 2 zone against the Redskins 11 personnel that features tight end Jordan Reed in the slot and running back Chris Thompson in the backfield. Safeties Vonn Bell and Marcus Williams are responsible for the two deep halves of the field, while the linebackers and corners will sit on the 1st down line. This type of defense encourages the quarterback to throw the ball short of the 1st down marker and have the receiver tackled before he can pick up the necessary yards. The safeties do a good job at picking up their coverage responsibilities. Bell will follow the dig route from the number 1 receiver on his side, while Williams will carry the post route from the outside receiver on the other side. This type of communication was an issue earlier in the season and resulted in some big plays from the opposing offense. It’s good to see the little things are getting cleaned up. On the defensive line, the Saints roll-out their NASCAR package. Cam Jordan is lined up inside, over the B-gap in a 2-point stance with Marcus Davenport also in a 2-point stance to the offense’s left. Alex Okafor and Sheldon Rankins are the two down lineman, lined up in the 7 technique and 4i technique respectively. Pushing Jordan inside and having an extra defensive end in is a good way to get pressure on the quarterback without having to call a blitz, while also dropping 7 into coverage. Jordan and Rankins will attempt to run a twist, but Rankins is unable to penetrate his gap and he and Jordan get pinned inside. Rankins then does a good job of running with Alex Smith when he scrambles out of the pocket. Smith completes the pass but his receiver is tackled well short of the first down marker and the Redskins are forced to punt. The next play is a good example of how the pressure was able to disrupt Alex Smith for much of the game. The Redskins will run a version of the mesh/half back wheel concept. The mesh concept here is called unders, where the two outside receivers on each side of the field will run shallow crossing routes in order to create a rub in the middle of the field that makes it difficult to defend in man coverage. Marcus Williams and Ken Crawley do a good job at recognizing this and will “switch” the receivers they are covering. Justin Hardee will then drop back into coverage. He does not see the receiver running the dig route behind him come open, but fortunately for the Saints, neither does Smith. The halfback (Chris Thompson) will run a wheel route out of the backfield that is picked up by Anzalone. This is where Alex Smith looks first Marshon Lattimore Saint Jersey , but Davenport does a great job at disrupting the route to throw off the offense’s timing. (The Saints did this with tight ends and running backs all game) Smith will then work his way to the mesh concept in the middle of the field and sees that it is covered. He then looks back to the wheel route and baits Alex Anzalone with his eyes which give Thompson enough space to get open behind him, but at this point, Davenport is collapsing the pocket from the left side and Smith is forced to throw the ball out of the end zone. These are just two examples that show the defense improving and how the secondary and front seven are working in tandem and seem to be all on the same page. Tre’Quan SmithBy now, everyone has seen the play that put Drew Brees atop the passing yard record and got Tre’quan Smith his first NFL touchdown. Smith wasn’t done there as he would later score another touchdown in the 3rd quarter. The Saints will call another four-verticals passing concept, with Taysom Hill running the jet motion that will carry into a swing route. Alvin Kamara will run his go route out of the backfield and Dan Arnold, who got his first NFL game action, is lined up as an inline tight end. Arnold was in on the two other times this play was called and looks to be the new receiving threat from the tight end group. Smith is able to beat the jam by the cornerback with a nice arm over technique and without a safety over the top, gets wide open along the sideline for the 35 yard touchdown. Tre’Quan Smith was able to step up in the absence of Ginn and appears to be forming good chemistry with Brees, while Smith is able to run the deep routes that Ginn normally does and with this performance he may continue to see an increase in snaps as the season goes forward.
  2. Tony Romo Jersey 2019

    12 June 2019 - 03:31 AM

All eyes are on Earl Thomas and DeMarcus Lawrence Dallas Cowboys Jason Witten Jersey , but those are just two questions Dallas still has to answer."As NFL free agency gets really underway and deals have been announced during the legal tampering period, the Dallas Cowboys are, as usual, quiet. The only big developments have been the surprise return of Jason Witten, the loss of Cole Beasley to the Buffalo Bills, and a re-negotiated contract for Sean Lee that freed up some cap space. Meanwhile, the team remains in a stand-off with DeMarcus Lawrence, who is not planning on signing his franchise tag, and the pursuit of the great white whale, Earl Thomas, is still unresolved. But those two big stories have overshadowed the other roster questions that face Dallas. Free agency is used by the team to plug holes in the roster prior to the draft, to provide both a safety net and some clarity. The latter is badly needed with the first-round pick already spent in the trade for Amari Cooper. Here are the other things that are pending, by position.Wide receiverBeasley’s departure to get a well-deserved payday leaves the slot position very much up in the air. The Cowboys have a lot of wide receivers already under contract, and are reportedly going to bring Tavon Austin back into the fold. That still does not leave them with a clear picture for the slot. They might risk going with a “by committee” approach, with Cooper and second-year player Cedrick Wilson as options. Jerry Jones has also mentioned using Allen Hurns in that role, but at first glance, he seems a better outside receiver. This could be a place they grab a third-tier free agent for some of that insurance, and it is highly likely they will use one of their six draft picks to try and add talent.Running backThey have to do something with only Ezekiel Elliott and Darius Jackson currently on the roster. They almost have to add some depth from the free agency bargain bin, but that is already looking a bit shallow. This is not only going to be a target for the draft, but also will likely see some UDFA candidates brought in from what looks to be a pretty deep college crop. There is a related question, and that is whether the team will still carry a true fullback. This is one place where Kellen Moore may have a different idea for the offense, perhaps using a tight end like Dalton Schultz when they want a lead blocker - if that is even part of his plans. It will be worth watching to see just how much control Moore has over structuring his offense. Jason Garrett has a fondness for the fullback position, but that is not the way the league is heading.Tight endThe unexpected return of Witten puts this in much better shape. Consider him a suitable substitute for getting a TE in free agency. The Cowboys may now be more in an either/or situation between that and the draft. Witten may be past his prime White Terrance Williams Jersey , but he is excellent depth. Dallas still needs at least one more unless this becomes the year Rico Gathers finally shows something. The signing of Codey McElroy is not an answer, and they may want to carry five if the fullback position is not filled.QuarterbackThey have their starter in Dak Prescott and just need to figure out when they will officially make him a rich man. Both backups are still there. Probably nothing to see here other than a UDFA camp arm or two being picked up eventually.Offensive lineBarring a truly unexpected setback for Travis Frederick, the interior of the line is in pretty good shape with Joe Looney back as the multi-role depth player. That leaves swing tackle as a high priority, and one that is more likely to be addressed with a free agent than going into the draft. Cameron Fleming is still a possible re-signing, or they may go with a one- or two-year deal for another vet. Watch for something to get done in the next week or so.Defensive lineIf the Lawrence extension falls through, we are in Defcon 1 (that is the highest state of alert before Armageddon, just so you know). But the assumption is that the Cowboys will finally bite the financial bullet and pay the man something like $100 million with a big guaranteed amount, so let’s cross our fingers and go with that. His deal will also free up more cap space by pushing money out.The Cowboys still need depth at end, and will be looking at both free agency and the draft for the best addition. Defensive tackle also needs more, although the re-signing of Daniel Ross is underrated, at least in my opinion. The draft is the best avenue here with the available talent in this year’s pool, but there are a lot of veterans still available. This is another place to really expect one of their patented bargain signings, one that comes with little to no cost if it doesn’t work out.LinebackerLike Witten, Lee provides quality depth, and with one of the elite duos in the league in Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander Esch in place, the team doesn’t have a pressing need here. They will probably pick up one more cheap free agent here, but the six they have under contract already look pretty good.CornerbackAgain, they look to be in good shape here, with all their corners returning from last year. They were a solid if not spectacular unit, and they are pretty young. It seems unlikely they would spend much on a free agent corner, but if the right one falls to them in the draft, it is hard to not pull the trigger for one of the money positions like that.SpecialistsThe Cowboys are reportedly planning on re-signing long snapper L.P. Ladouceur, AKA Mr. Perfect. They still have to decide if Brett Maher is the answer going forward as their place kicker. Expect to see someone Terrance Williams Jersey 2019 , or maybe someones, brought in for camp to compete for the job. SafetyI saved this for last, because the answer to the ET question will drive so much. As things go on, the chances of landing him actually seem to be improving. The market for his services has not led to him getting grabbed early, and lots of other free agent safeties are getting paid out there. But the pool was so big, talent is still available, so if the quest for Thomas fails, there are fall-backs. It seems certain the Cowboys will sign a safety in free agency, and then will also be looking for a draftee. They have to have an upgrade to go with Xavier Woods. Jeff Heath is still a great special teams asset, but should be a backup safety, not a starter.Paying for it allThere are a lot of spots where free agents need to be added, but how do the Cowboys pay for it all? Well, there’s always this. And that current cap figure is actually $22 million after Lee’s restructure (per Spotrac), and as mentioned, the presumptive extension for Lawrence will add more. The Cowboys can do whatever they need to do.Which is good, because there is a lot to be done still. There are few immediate needs to fill for the Cowboys, so will the strategy be more about the long view?"The Dallas Cowboys don’t have a first-round pick in the looming NFL draft. But that is not the problem it could be. Because of moves made, including the use of that first-round pick to acquire Amari Cooper, getting the DeMarcus Lawrence deal wrapped up, and a more aggressive approach in free agency to net Robert Quinn and Randall Cobb, they have a really strong group already under contract, with no immediate pressing needs that have to be filled in the draft. They will be looking for upgrades, players that can come in and compete with those already on the team. There just is no place where they really are desperate for an immediate starter. Last year White Tony Romo Jersey , we saw Leighton Vander Esch, Connor Williams, and Michael Gallup achieve starting positions. We may not see as many as that among this year’s group. No, the six (as of now) names that Dallas will select will primarily be coming in as depth, and some will have an uphill battle to even make the 53-man roster. That can actually be good for both sides. The Cowboys can take players they know need a season of development. It was something that would have been good with Williams, who needed the benefits he seems to be reaping from a full offseason with the team. None of this year’s draftees will likely be thrown straight into the fire the way he was.If there is a position that the team is looking at for a significant contribution this year, it is probably safety. But that is about it. That means the team can look forward a bit and perhaps fit most of this year’s draftees to what they see as needs for 2020. Still, the rest of the draft picks can be looked at more for their return in the future than what they can do for the team right away. It is a bit of a luxury, but with the number of players who are going to be free agents after this year, it may be a necessity as well. Here are some of the notable spots that would be good places to stock the shelves a bit early. (For that matter, George Iloka is one of the one-year signees, so that position is one that has a double value.)Tight endJason Witten will certainly limit the available snaps for any tight end taken this year, but given his age, it is also pretty much a given that the team will need one in 2020. (He may prove me wrong, but I think this year is a way to transition to coaching after the broadcast thing flopped for him.) Many saw Witten’s return as really pushing the need to take a tight end down the list of priorities, but that seems a bit too short-term a way to look at it.Defensive endLawrence is locked up, but no one knows what is going to happen with Randy Gregory. Taco Charlton is still a big question mark as to whether he is going to live up to his draft status and Dorance Armstrong is mostly an unknown quantity. Tyrone Crawford still has a couple of years on his deal, but may be called on more inside as a 3-tech DT. Quinn and Kerry Hyder helped shore things up for now, but are in that one-year club. They say you can never have too many pass rushers, but the importance of getting one in the draft goes deeper than that for Dallas. Wide receiverThe Cowboys have a bit of a need here anyway with health questions surrounding Allen Hurns and Cedrick Wilson, but the future outlook comes into play as well. Cobb and Tavon Austin are both on one-year contracts, and Hurns is in the final season of his two-year deal. More WR talent, particularly someone who can perform out of the slot Tony Romo Jersey 2019 , is going to be worth a look.LinebackerThe Cowboys are in outstanding shape this year, with Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith perhaps the best duo in the game, and Sean Lee one of the best backups. But after this year, things get a bit skimpy. Lee, Joe Thomas, and Justin March-Lillard are all set to hit the market next year (with Lee a good candidate to go into coaching as well). That may explain why so many of the pre-draft visitors this year were linebackers. CornerbackThere is a need for some depth here, but Anthony Brown is also entering the last year of his contract. The team may want to have an option already on board in case they don’t want to do a second deal with him. He may earn that, but with the other big deals they are looking at, they may want to spend that cap space elsewhere.Defensive tackleThis is a potential need anyway, even with the addition of Christian Covington and the new deal for Daniel Ross. But the cupboard is really bare here for 2020, with them both on one-year deals while Maliek Collins and Antwaun Woods are also set to enter free agency. Dallas has been reluctant to use draft capital on DTs, but they should not only be looking to go there to help this year, this might be the best spot to consider some double dipping.Offensive lineThis is a sneaky one. But La’el Collins has just this year left on his deal, and both the backups in the interior of the line, Joe Looney and Xavier Su’a-Filo, are in the same boat. The fact four of the starting positions and the swing tackle (or possible replacement for Collins) are locked down for a while tends to distract from this, but drafting some O line talent would not be as strange as you might think. All these positions are ones where a draft pick would be more about the future than this fall. What it seems to show is that things may be a bit more open as far as position for the Cowboys in the draft. The odds are good there will be a pick or two that seem hard to figure out at first, but that make a lot more sense when you look at it from this perspective.
  3. Eric Ebron Jersey Stitched

    12 June 2019 - 03:16 AM

The Indianapolis Colts’ defense has been on a hot streak in recent weeks Kenny Moore Jersey Stitched , as they’ve climbed up to a top 10 defense in football according to DVOA numbers. They faced a fairly tough task though heading into Sunday as the Cowboys’ entered the game with the NFL’s leading rusher in Ezekiel Elliott and one of the better receivers in football in Amari Cooper. Even with the Cowboys having these two marquee players, the Colts were able to shut down the Cowboys offense and it all started with the big guys up front. The Cowboys simply had no answers for the Colts defense as they were shut down in all aspects of the game. Elliott was held under 100 yards for only the seventh time this entire season. Dak Prescott only managed 206 yards passing and 0 rushing yards while being sacked three times. Cooper was held to just 32 yards receiving on just four catches. Just a smothering effort all around by the defense. This piece is part two of two in a film room series dedicated to the Colts dominating the trenches this past Sunday. The defensive line of Denico Autry, Margus Hunt, Tyquan Lewis, and Jabaal Sheard has been playing lights out of late and this game was no exception. Lets jump into the film to see how well these guys really played.Film ReviewIn the first run of the game the Colts’ defensive line is able to get a ton of penetration. The play all around isn’t this dominating rep but it set the tone for the rest of the game. The entire defensive line from Hunt to Al- Quadin Muhammad is able to get up field and past their blockers. Obviously they didn’t get the stop because it was an outside run but by beating their single blocks and double teams, the linebackers were left free to make the stop. Good gang tackle by Darius Leonard and Anthony Walker to end the play. Also notice Sheard crush the tight end who tries to block him on the left side. The Colts were able to get pressure even rushing just four guys on Sunday. Autry gets the initial pressure up the middle as he drives the center right back into the lap of Prescott. Hunt does a stunt with Muhammad who is able to drive the guard back into Prescott’s lap as well. Hunt and Sheard keep Prescott in the pocket by keeping outside contain. This great interior rush by Autry and Muhammad leads to Prescott having to find his check down much sooner than he would like. This next play is won in the trenches from the snap of the ball. Both Grover Stewart and Hunt get an excellent push into the backfield to disrupt the run. Muhammad takes on the tight end block in the hole in order to free up the linebacker. The star of the play though is Leonard as this is a marvelous run fit by him. Displaying insane quickness and play recognition, Leonard is able to beat Elliott to the hole and stuff the run for no gain. Hunt also gets partial credit for the tackle as he sheds his blocker and also hits Elliott in the hole. The Colts didn’t just dominate the trenches on defense, they also did on special teams. Showing great hustle and determination, the Colts are able to get the blocked field goal early in the game to preserve the shut out. Excellent job by Autry to fight through the double team up the middle and get a hand on this kick. Also a shout out to Muhammad as he nearly breaks through on the left side for the block as well. This rep is just all heart though by the guys up front and it took the Cowboys’ soul out of the game early on. On top of holding Elliott under 100 yards for the day Youth Eric Ebron Jersey , the Colts also were effective rushing the passer on Sunday. Rookie defensive end Tyquan Lewis notched the first two sacks of his career on Sunday and was disruptive rushing the passer all day. This rep is nothing special as the Cowboys only ran two receivers out on initial routes while the Colts only rushed four. Lewis does a nice job of keeping his legs moving and not giving up on the play, as he fights through blocks and gets the sack. Muhammad also had a decent rush on the outside which forced Prescott to step up a bit in the pocket. This next play may have been the play of the game for the defense. The Cowboys had all the momentum right here as they just drove effortlessly down the field and were within five yards of their first score of the day. They just suffered from a big drop on the play before but have a fourth and one with arguably the best running back in football. Seems like an easy conversion right? Well Margus Hunt had different plans. He explodes through the line of scrimmage and is able to stop the flow of the play by contacting Elliott behind the line of scrimmage. Matthew Adams sets a hard edge on the outside forcing the run back inside and a combination of Hunt, Adams, and Pierre Desir are able to bring down Elliott for a loss. Game changing play by the defense. The Cowboys tried to get the screen game going after a couple of scoreless drives but the Colts are ready for it. The play is mostly blown up by Sheard just dropping the right tackle on a nice bull rush and forcing Prescott out of the pocket. Autry recognizes the screen as well as he also slows up his rush and stays in the lane of the potential pass to Elliott. Sheard ends the rep by registering a QB hit on Prescott as he throws the ball away. Another play shut down by the Colts’ defensive line.I love the scheme up front on this next play and it really shows how far Matt Eberflus has come since the start of the season. Gone are the days of vanilla zone coverage as even when Eberflus isn’t blitzing, he draws up a stunt like this. Here the tackles both line up at end and the ends line up inside. Hunt and Autry stunt inside to their normal positions as Lewis and Sheard stunt back to the outside. The Cowboys’ line is confused by the movement up front, Prescott drops his eyes, and the result is another Lewis sack. Gold star to Eberflus for this stunt play.Another quick pressure by the Colts forcing Prescott to find his checkdown. The key to success for the Colts this season has been to limit big plays and keep everything in front of them. The Cowboys— knowing this— tried all day to hit the deep ball. They simply couldn’t make that big play though because of quick pressures like this one from Hunt. In the most perfect example of a stunt play gone right, Sheard absolutely annihilates rookie Connor Williams— welcome to the NFL rookie— as Hunt is able to twist outside untouched for the near sack. Pressures all day like this one made Prescott come to his checkdowns much sooner than he wanted to.This next rep is excellent run gap discipline up front by the entire defense. Stewart takes on the double team very well and is able to hold his ground in the middle of the play. Both Hunt and Muhammad do a nice job of staying home and making sure Elliott doesn’t have a cut back lane. Leonard and Lewis both clog up the main rushing lane. Every single hole or gap to escape from is clogged up by the defense and Elliott is forced to just take what he can get and go forward on the play. Great disciplined and aware defense here by the entire front.Late in the game is where these pass rushers really succeed, when they can pin their ears back and get after the passer. Both Sheard and Autry have excellent rushes on this play to disrupt the passing play. Autry fires through the A-gap and is too quick for the center who is forced to just hold Autry to prevent the sack. Sheard is able to get under the block attempt of the right tackle and bend around the corner and also nearly comes up with the sack. The result again is Prescott having to quickly find his checkdown in the area of the field where the Colts are confident their guys can make a tackle.Last clip of the day is another highlight reel play by the Pro-Bowl alternate Autry. Autry is way too quick inside for most guards in this league to handle one on one. Throw in that he’s quite strong and fairly polished as a rusher and you’ve got a Pro-Bowl caliber player. Here Eric Ebron Jersey Stitched , Autry initially starts inside and gets the guard to set up there. Autry then throws him off balance with a strong right hand and then is able to fight up field for the sack on the play. What an impressive play to cap off a dominant shut out by this surging, young defense. AnalysisWhat a performance from a group that is continually getting stronger each and every week. Tyquan Lewis had the game of his young career as he was able to notch his first two sacks. Margus Hunt was his typical mountain moving self and Jabaal Sheard made so many plays that won’t show up in the stat sheet. The real star however is Denico Autry as he now has 6 sacks and 1 blocked kick in his last three games. He is playing as well as any defensive lineman in football right now.Matt Eberflus also deserves so much credit for this defense’s turnaround. He has transformed a young, inexperienced defense into one of the more aggressive and fun teams in football. He really has expanded his defensive playbook and it is truly impressive that he was able to coach his guys to a shut out of his former team. Overall this game was won against the Cowboys by the Colts dominating the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Chris Ballard’s dream of a physical bully of a team is starting to truly take form. Hopefully the young defense can keep up their strong play this upcoming week as rookie sensation Saquon Barkley and the Giants come to town.Colts promote DT Jihad Ward, add veteran TE Erik Swoope to practice squad The Indianapolis Colts promoted defensive tackle Jihad Ward to the active roster on Friday, ultimately leaving Erik Swoope the odd man out after the team waived him.Swoope wasn’t a free agent for long. According to Colts Reporter Zak Keefer, the Colts are adding Swoope back to the roster, but in a practice squad role. Ward was an addition to the practice squad on September 3, giving the Colts some added depth up front with Tyquan Lewis and Hassan Ridgeway dealing with injuries. Ward saw time with the Dallas Cowboys, spending a short time with the organization after being cut on September 1. The Cowboys added Ward via trade with the Oakland Raider at the end of April. Raiders had high hopes for Ward Youth Ryan Grant Jersey , spending the 44th overall pick on him during the 2016 draft. He spent 21 games (14 starts) in Oakland, compiling 33 tackles (22 solo), one sack and one fumble recovery. Swoope, who was an undrafted free agent, has been in Indianapolis since the 2014 season, appearing in 18 games and catching 16 passes for 310 yards and one touchdown.
