Williams, 28, has appeared in 85 games with 13 starts over six NFL seasons with the Dolphins (2014-17) and Chiefs (2018-19). The 5-11, 224-pounder has rushed for 1,231 yards and 12 touchdowns on 294 carries and caught 138 passes for 1,106 yards and 10 TDs.

Williams opted out of the 2020 season due to concerns about COVID-19 and was released by the Chiefs March 16.Williams entered the NFL with the Dolphins in 2014 as an undrafted free agent from Oklahoma. In his second year with the Chiefs in 2019, he helped Kansas City win the Super Bowl, establishing career highs with 498 yards rushing, five rushing touchdowns and 30 receptions.

With the Chiefs trailing the 49ers 20-17 in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LIV, Williams caught a 5-yard TD pass from Patrick Mahomes to give Kansas City a 24-20 lead with 2:44 remaining and then scored a second TD on a 38-yard run to clinch the victory with 1:12 to play.
In rushing for 104 yards, Williams became the first player in NFL history to run for at least 100 yards while producing rushing and receiving touchdowns in a Super Bowl.

Williams ranks second among all active NFL players with 11 career postseason touchdowns, trailing only tight end Rob Gronkowski's 14.

Since the start of free agency March 17, Williams is the seventh player the Bears have added from another team. He joins quarterback Andy Dalton (Cowboys), offensive lineman Elijah Wilkinson (Broncos), defensive lineman Angelo Blackson (Cardinals), outside linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu (Broncos), linebacker Christian Jones (Lions) and cornerback Desmond Trufant (Lions).
