The Air Force 1 is one of the most iconic sneakers that Nike has ever produced. Originally runnersomg.com released in ’82 under the name ‘Air Force’: the sneaker grew from a performance silo into a street essential, found recognition on a global scale and became a cultural phenomenon. The kick has had over 2,000 variations since its release, but, amazingly, very little has changed with the sneaker itself over the past 36 years.
The sneak was designed by Bruce Kilgore (heard of him?) who started life at Nike as one of many product designers. In the early ’80s, Kilgore was tasked with nike shoes white and blue creating a fresh basketball silhouette, and in his first attempt at a sneak managed to create the Air Force 1! Beginners luck? Definitely not! Kilgore went on to create loads of other standout silos – most notably the Air Jordan III.

While not new to the model’s tallest height, the waterproof material is now accompanied by a reworked strap and outsole.
All-“Black” leather sits atop a “Light Gum Brown” sole unit, with the former featuring Online Shopping rubber, Prada Linea Rossa-like lockdown across the collar. “GORE-TEX” branding is embroidered onto the lateral heel, while profile swooshes and canvas-reminiscent pull tabs on the spine indulge in reflective detailing. Underfoot, the tread has been reworked, just as the entire sole unit has seemingly been divided into two components for a chunkier arrangement.
