Putting on make-up every day is a task for every girl, and though almost everyone puts on make-up, people cannot really decide what applicator to use while putting on different kinds of make-up.There's has been an ongoing debate about which applicator is the best for applying make-up. Well, the answer is that it depends upon which make-up product you are using.
While applying foundation, using make-up brushes or beauty sponges can give different effects on your skin and complexion. If you are using liquid foundation, brushes are easier to use and create a smooth finish. However, sponges are also good for foundation, but they can absorb a lot of the product.
While applying make-up products like loose powder, it is recommended to use fluffy brushes. Brushes are also good for full coverage finish but can leave streaks and lines on your face.
Dr Aanchal Panth, a dermatologist, also shared her take on the difference between using brush or sponge while using make-up. She shared a post on her social media and according to her, brushes give better coverage as they absorb lesser products. She also shared, “But, the brush bristles can be harsh on the skin, especially if you have sensitive skin, very dry skin, or brushes are old and not clean.”
The expert further shared, “Sponges are better on the skin as they cause less friction. It may cause wastage of product as compared to brushes. It is a better option for sensitive, dry skin.” She then added, “Cleaning sponges is very important, as they are used moist. It becomes a harbouring ground for various bacteria. Sponges may take longer to dry after cleaning than brushes.”
