Bridgewater police officers getting new bulletproof vests

The funding for the vests was attained entirely through the state Body Armor Replacement Program, which is a grant administered by the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety.
“The brave men and women that serve our community need to have updated and effective equipment to keep them safe in the line of duty,” Mayor Mathew Moench said in a statement. “It is an extra bonus when we can receive it at no cost to the township.I would like to thank Chief Paul Payne and his team for aggressively seeking to protect his sworn officers while also striving to protect the best interest of the taxpaying public.”
In order to maintain reliability in the field, vests need to be replaced every five years.
The manufacturer, Point Blank Vision IIIA, has been a prior partner of Bridgewater for several years and is recognized a premier supplier of body armor supplies for law enforcement.
