The process in creating the jerseys was a bit different than usual. When teams want to add a jersey to their kit, they create a proposal and give it to the NHL's official partner for gear, and the development process begins. This was a leaguewide initiative initiated by Adidas, whose team presented its concepts to a full meeting of the NHL board of governors, and then to the individual teams.

The demonstration follows those in the National Hockey League postseason during the summer, when four members of the Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights took a knee before their playoff game, and Matt Dumba of the Minnesota Wild took a knee before the start of the Western Conference postseason in Edmonton.

"It's funny, I am usually a 9 p.m. bedtime person. But now it is about midnight. I try to get in as many masks a night as I can. It has been a little change in my sleep pattern. But it is OK, knowing we are doing it for a good reason."

Once he retires, Gasol would have interest in working for an NBA team in some capacity, he said. He's just not ready for that yet.Miami Dolphins for NHL Face Masks
